What we have here another chapbook release from the offices of Splatterpunk Zine. Both stories in this mini-collection feature zombies but, beyond that, could not be more different in terms of tone and delivery. Bantry writes in short, staccato sentences, breathlessly pushing the plot along to its surprising (and chilling) conclusion, while Robinson’s prose is more measured, his main protagonist offering a character study in PTSD that I found eminently more involving than the undead threat he was facing. In all, a pair of entertaining takes on the zombie theme… I can’t ask for much more than that. (***)

‘The Good and the Bad’ by Jack Bantry (2014)
What starts as a standard zombie-apocalypse-survivor tale takes a sharp turn into a cruel ending that twists like a knife. (***)

‘Run for Your Life Nick McClusky’ by Nathan Robinson (2014)
I spotted the denouement early, but McClusky’s character is sufficiently well-realised to carry me through to the end. (***)
